The challenge

In parallel with its school project (read the story here), the GEMS World Academy wanted to build a sports center to differentiate itself from other large independent schools in the region. Nestled between two of Switzerland's main roads and railways, the building's minimalist and uncluttered architecture, with its generous spans of 22 to 34 metres, houses two swimming pools and a multi-sports hall. The construction of this slender structure, designed by CCHE, presented technical challenges, such as the need to integrate large ventilation installations.

Our response

Working alongside the designers throughout the project, one of the suggestions we made was to use a two-dimensional metal truss structure to integrate the technical installations without undermining the architectural concept. Our financial management expertise and organisational skills contributed to the success of the project. Tight budgets and schedules were essential so that GEMS World Academy could offer a unique facility in such a short amount of time. This high-tech sports center will have a strong impact in this highly competitive market.
